Today is a snowy day here in the MITTEN STATE. These Michiganders, or Michiganians sure are a wild bunch… Nana was taken back herself by some photos that were sent to her…. take a look at Michigan …. Yep, it was one of those things that get sent in e-mails all the time, but just in case you are missing me too much, or GG-ma and Great Papa are missing me too much… JUST THINK WHAT YOU ARE NOT MISSING… SNOW! Below is a special edition of my love letter and it is all about snow to give all my friends and family that need one…. a good look at SNOW! MICHIGAN SNOW! First let me show you some of ME.. after all, this is “all about Guillianna!” I just happen to be in my first real SNOW of the season here in Michigan, and I love watching it fall. I watch the dogs, Mr. Griff, all 200+ pounds of him romp around in it with Justice and Liberty who love the stuff too. It has been very entertaining, but so far no fun Nana has no intention of letting me go out in it and ROMP! Nana and I played with my fish aquarium, my purse and all kinds of stuff, I am quite the little active one these days… and we had fun.
Nana says, Poppy was SOOOOO close to moving to Marquette Michigan at one point… WOW…. can you imagine this much snow?
This text is from a county emergency manager out in the western part of the Upper Peninsula of Michiganafter a severe snow storm last winter. The Mining Journal, Marquette, MI
WEATHER BULLETIN
Up here in the Northern part of Michigan we just recovered from an historic event —
may I even say a “Weather Event ofBiblical Proportions” — with an historic
blizzard of up to 44″ inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half,
knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks,
closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10’s of thousands.
A few additional facts about this Michigan snow and its people… FEMA did nothing nor were they asked.
Michiganders sent out caravans of SUV’s to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars. Truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn’t ask for a penny. Local restaurants made food. Police and fire departments delivered it to snow bound families. Families took in stranded people – total strangers ! (I say Poppy would have fit in perfectly in Marquette, cause he is that kind of guy!)
Michiganders fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns. We put on on extra layers of clothes because up here it is “Work or Die”. Even though a Category “5” blizzard of this scale has never fallen this early, living in Northern Michigan they know it can happen. These photos show Michiganders working together! Any time people work together it is a great thing!
No matter what the circumstances are, that bring us to it…. working together is far better than fighting and blaming everyone else!
Glad we are only expecting a few inches, and one thing for sure, it may be a slow go tomorrow, and everything may take a little extra time but patience will pay off, and we can all be grateful it wasn’t a storm like the ones in Northern Michigan!
Have a great day everyone!
MICHIGAN… WOW…. THAT’S A LOT OF SNOW!
Yep, this is Michigan…and Iam for now a little pot of gold, a little Michigander/Michiganian… who is ARMY STRONG and lucky to be where there are so many good and kind people.
Special notice to GreatGrandma Sally and Grumpy… I am sure you are missing this stuff. As are Great Grandma Sharyn and Great Popa Alan. Hey Dad can you imagine the SNOW BEAST YOU COULD HAVE MADE IN THIS STUFF! HOPE ALL IS WELL IN THE LAND OF SAND from all of us here in the land of snow…. hmmmm… even if we only got 3 to 5 inches!
CAMP NANA IS ONLY GETTING A FEW INCHES OF THE WHITE STUFF, BUT LOOK HOW MUCH SNOW IS POSSIBLE!
NANA SAYS, THE PHOTO BELOW IS FAR MORE APPEALING THOUGH, IT IS WHERE UNCLE NICK WAS LAST WINTER….
WELCOME BACK TO MICHIGAN UNCLE NICK!
Are you wishing you were back there?
Ya know mom and dad, I hope you are enjoying your weather there in the land of sand at least…
Because I have to say it is really cold here, and for all of us in SE Michigan getting a bit of a storm tonight, look – I say we are lucky… cause it won’t be anything like this!
I had a great day at camp… we had a trip to Nana’s doctor, but then back at camp for playing and more playing. Until tomorrow Mom and Dad, I am as always your,
Little Miss Adorable,
your daughter,
Guillianna!
I love playing with my little fish, and my aquarium, JUST LIKE MOMMY USED TO LIKE!
